Hello all,

The Custom Shop is currently having a 2 for $199 sale as listed on their website:

I was considering the offer, but I just wanted to run it by some of the members of this forum (since I've learned so much from you guys - thank you!). Has anyone had any experience with "The Custom Shop" shirts, and is there a better option in the Washington DC area for custom shirts at a similar price point? I would appreciate any insight or advice you guys could offer. Thanks.

I have passed by one of their shops and wasn't too impressed with the items they had displayed in the window. The stuff looked cheap. I would look elsewhere.

The only way you are going to get a similar price point in the DC area is to either deal with a traveling tailor or order MTM shirts from BB during a sale with stacked discounts. No personal experience with either, sorry.

I also once ordered a shirt. The cuffs were not made to spec., and I began looking for other MTM options.

I had good luck with The Custom Shop for a few years before they went out of business. I thought they had an interesting selection of fabrics and reasonable prices. I still have a few of their shirts, but, alas, the collar no longer fits.

After they went out of business it sems their name and customer list were bought by a suit maker. The current offering of cloth seems uninspired to me and I prefer to get MTM shirts from a brick and mortar store. I can match their prices buying MTM from a local merchant according to the prices I have seen on their web page.

I used them 10 years ago and it wqas a decent (but not spectacular) MTM shop. They got bought and for new offerings all bets are off. Does not look promising from the web site.

Thanks everyone for your advice....sounds like I'll steer clear of "The Custom Shop" and start looking elsewhere.

Warning Will Robinson...Warning.

I used them once in 1977. That was it. after that I referred to them as "The MacDonald's of the Shirt World."

Harvie and Hudson is having a trunk show in DC in just a few days. Check them out as their prices are comparable and the quality is good.
