It's been a while since I've read The Boutonniere: Style in One's Lapel, so I have a few questions regarding the art of the buttonhole:

1. Strictly Speaking, should gentlemen only wear a white carnation with white-tie, but red or white with black-tie?

2. What flowers are appropriate for full morning dress?

3. Does anyone still manufacture those miniature silver vases that a gentleman pinned to his label to hold water for his buttonhole?

Thank you for all your information.

Kind Regards,

Chase

On 3., one can still find lapel vases/flower holders (the best kind, which go through the buttonhole and rest behind the lapel); I bought mine at an antiques fair but I have a catalogue showing one (silver plated, reasonable price) which I will dig out if you like.
