Stamp was nominated for an Oscar for his first film, a true gem, Billy Budd, in 1962. The film was in B&W, I saw it first run in a Times Sq. grind house (the perv rows way, way behind me). The pic below may have been colorized. He was 24. (The Rowenta was locked in Captain Veer's cabin.)

Some great roles in Far from the Madding Crowd, The Limey, Teorema, The Collector, Wall Street and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Most recently in Last Night in Soho. And of course, Billy Budd, which Peaks mentions. I have always admired his performances, small or large. And he wears his clothes very well.

Yes, the G word that you mentioned is as derogatory as the N word. So is the L word in the title of that Steven Soderbergh movie from 1999.

How Steven Soderbergh got away with that is beyond me. Anyway, besides being incredibly elegant and incredibly talented, Terence Stamp is also a class act in real life. 👌😀👍

A far cry from the criminals he often plays in movies and on TV. He’s the English Ricardo Montalban.

Every English person I have known would also take the same offense to the L word that black people take to the N word.

I’ll admit, I haven’t known a lot of English people in my life. But I’ve known enough of them that I know how they react to English slurs. And it’s not pleasant.
