To make a proper tan chord you need three wails at proper intervals. If one should move over just a bit, it might seem flat in isolation, but that is a minor detail.

Tan cord season is still a distant dream here. I am thinking Nantucket red shorts, a navy surcingle, a white polo, and sockless Maliseets. I'll be overdressed by local standards. Sigh.

On a more serious note, as it were, I just got a great pair of khaki cords from Joseph Turner in Great Britain. I have Khaki, navy and burgundy. The fit is great, they wash well and are reasonably priced. The pleated has only one small pleat on each side and they wear like iron. I also highly recommend their mole skins, which I have in tan and navy.

I really miss the Country Cords that LLB no longer carry; decent quality, great fit and for $22 at the outlet a great value. So great that whenever I went there I usually bought every pair in my size and one size up to be taken in later. I am going on the 3rd year with some older ones and still have 3 or 4 pairs unworn and still with tags. The tan cords, country flannel trousers and Shetland crewneck are my fall / winter standards.

I didn't "discover" them early in my sartorial journey, but once I did, tan/ivory/stone cords have been a favorite. Kinda like a fall/winter chino substitute.

I have several - J.Crew and J.Peterman - but if we ever go back to normal living, will add a pair or two. They are incredibly versatile.

For those of us in climes both warmer and more casual, I recommend the Bean five pocket cords. I got them in a moss grey and a tan.
