Long story short: I have a hard time finding clothes (and by clothes I mostly mean pants) that fit me well. So, maybe it’s time I find a tailor who can make them for ME and end this frustrating game of trying to find clothes that fit me. Also, since I’ve never done this, I would appreciate some kind of range of what I can expect to pay to have pants made in a big, expensive city like San Francisco.

Thanks.

(Yes, I did a search here before I posted, but everything I found was a few years old.)

Kathryn Sargent travels to San Francisco. Beware that her prices are very expensive.

Here is a list of her starting prices:

£1,000 for a skirt
£1,100 for a vest
£1,200 for a pair of pants and a pair of shorts
£1,600 for a dress
£2,800 for a blazer, sport coat and stroller coat
£3,000 for a morning coat
£3,200 for a tail coat and a top coat
£3,300 for a frock coat
£3,500 for an overcoat
£4,000 for a suit (again, £2,800 to start for the coat and £1,200 to start for the pair of pants or shorts)
£4,300 for a tuxedo (£3,100 to start for the coat and £1,200 to start for the pair of pants or shorts)

All prices are exclusive of 20% value added tax (which is deducted for export to America).

Those prices are a little less than the average on Savile Row.
Most tailors only visit once a year, so are not great for random alterations!
Seymours on Sutter St. did some emergency work for me some time ago and were very good.

Andreas Gorges on Sutter St.

I've gone to him for alterations including recutting trousers and he's always done great work. He's a full tailor not an alterationist. I have not had anything made but based on my experiences with him including fixing past problems with trouser fit caused by others, I think he might be a good lead.

Those prices sound fair for Savile Row. Many of her neighbours charge considerably more.

I'd seen his name on a post that was some years old, I didn't know if he was still relevant. Thanks.

So I went back again to search for San Francisco tailors since the name of Andreas Gorges came up, and found two other names. Peter Panos and Seymour's Fashions. Has anyone used them recently?

Thanks.
