Hello. First post from a long-time forum lurker here.

I'm looking for opinions on choosing a sweater color to go with the below outfit:

Shirt: White Oxford button down
Tie: Burgundy grenadine grossa
Trousers: Medium grey wool flannel
Jacket: Blue (not dark blue) herringbone donegal
Socks: Medium grey
Shoes: Dress boots -- various shades of brown

I'm reluctant to get grey since with the jacket off it would be a lot of grey, but darker or even lighter grey is possible? I'm also reluctant to get navy since I'd like a sweater shade different from my occasional navy blazer and my more-than-occasional navy Baracuta G9 -- but I haven't ruled it out. And my instincts just don't extend far enough to know what other colors or red shades, etc. would work with the burgundy. So I now turn to you for help.

It'll be a crewneck sweater with texture. I don't wear black, greens, oranges, or yellows.

I would personally prefer a V neck pale yellow sleeveless lambs wool sweater. Pale yellow is one of the most versatile colors of which I know. But as you don't wear yellow, and it must be crewneck you might consider a sweater in an oatmeal shade. It's more of a neutral, and usually has a heathered yarn.

I also much prefer sleeveless sweaters beneath jackets as just more comfortable, but crew neck sleeveless sweaters are less common. You can always consider Shetland sweaters, and I'm sure you'll get the recommendation, but they're really ungainly beneath a heavier jacket, and beastly warm.

A final choice should you be bold of heart would be a Fair Isle sweater. But again sleeveless and V neck are the most practical.

This is one of the nicest I've seen recently, and would be perfect with what you have in mind, but doesn't meet all of your criteria.

I like Flanderian’s recommendation to wear a sleeveless Fair Isle sweater. Still, if you’re determined to wear a crewneck sweater, consider the oatmeal color that he suggested, or light pink.

Oatmeal is safe because it complements almost everything. But then you run the risk of boring everyone to death. Pink is admittedly less safe, but will give your otherwise staid outfit a bit of verve. People may notice you, and that might not be good if you want to dress in such a way that you’re not noticed. Yet any gazes you get will be looks of approval. Probably.

Pale pink.
More versatile than you think.
Don’t be brittle.
Live a little.
