I just received this request. Can anyone help him?

Hi, I collect men's wallets that feature regimental stripes or silk motif patterns. I am particularly interested in the surcingle inlaid Canterbury billfolds. I have a well preserved one from my distant past (early 70's), and managed to get one from an eBay listing (I regularly search but to date have only found the one). I would greatly appreciate any advice you might offer concerning the history of these wallets and any dealers that might have these. Thank you and regards

Back in the late 60's I had several Canterbury striped surcingle inset wallets!!... In high school it was cool to buy the long wallet (jacket wallet) and have it stick out of the back pocket of our khaki's about an inch. Enough to show the stripes. The tri-fold was not nearly as popular.

Here in Indy, Roderick St. John's clothing store sold everything that Canterbury made... belts, wallets, watch bands... the more colors someone had the cooler they were! I still have a couple of my old Canterbury striped surcingle belts hanging in my closet... no, they don't fit and they're not for sale either. :)
