My natural inclination is to just say it's not appropriate. And if forced to give a definite answer that would have to be it. But in complete fairness, there are a lot of variables. There are a lot of different 60 year-olds. I've seen rather dressy T shirts of exceptionally fine quality elaborate knits that are as different from a basic T shirt as night and day. And there are some suits that are inherently less formal and better suited to more casual wear.

So if you need to express your inner Mickey Rourke or Miami Vice, let your eyes be your guide.

Is it appropriate to wear a t-shirt under a tan, shadow pane suit? age 60? Or stick with open collar shirt?
Thanks in advance, gentelmen
Wasn't the T-shirt under a suit jacket or sport coat in fashion around 1999? I never understood the look: although it's not that hard to remove neck gunk from the collar of a shirt, I don't want to deal with ring-around-the jacket collar.

If you were 22 years old and the idea of neck oil screwing up your jacket collar didn't creep you out, I'd tell you to wear whatever you want. Because I'm still a sartorial libertarian, I still think that you should wear whatever you want. (But I hope you'll change your mind and want to wear a shirt that has a collar. You don't need to look hip. And your jacket collar will thank you.)

Neck gunk. On the collar of a suit jacket. Ick.

My indications, also, go with my gut. 60yr age a factor also. Going into Nordstoms WITHOUT a suit department, high end tee's available,($140.00! ) got me befuddled LOL
TY
Remember you wouldn't enter a restaurant after 5 without wearing a jacket? Deffinatlly a suit on Sunday: :( ....

The senior minister at our Church does that and I think he is pushing 70+years of age. Honestly it drives me a bit crazy. Now this is central Florida and we are enduring the time of year that the anmbient air temps and humidity levels are sufficiently high to qualify these parts as a potential front gate to Hell itself. However, if it's too hot to wear a real shirt with your suit coat, just ditch the coat and wear your T-Shirt...you will be cooler for it! Nuff said. ;)
