Hi,

It does not appear that the "what summer sport coat" thread has been brought back from zombieland yet for the 2018 season. I figure I am just the newbie for the job....

I would like to purchase my first "summer" sport coat in linen, cotton, light wool blend, or some combination of those. No seersucker at this time :). I would prefer a lighter sand, wheat, stone, off white color. I would wear various slacks including jeans with it.

I have found a couple inexpensive options from Kroon that others posted about here They seem decent, but I have no experience with them other than the little I have read.

What do you think?

J Crew had a nice unstructured jacket this is no longer around with patch pockets - example:

I fancy the J Crew very much and realize it is more expensive. Either Kroon work? I think I prefer the Kroon Taylor over the Bono. What other options are there that I should look at?

Thanks in advance for any/all feedback and guidance.

My reservations regarding the remaining jackets is their length. My preference is for my coat tails to cover my butt. If a sport/suit coat is any shorter than that, I keep looking. The jackets you showcased would be fine if the length were adequate. I do wish you nothing but good luck in your hunt! ;)

In your price range, J.Crew has this one in stock this year:

While on the site, check out all the "blazers" (they don't know better and call any sport coat a blazer - sigh) as for $100 more, they have some others that might work for you.

That said, for the money, either the J.Crew one I linked to or the ones from STP look like decent value and I like that they all come in number sizes with both regular and long options - hence, you should be able to get a decent fit requiring only modest tailoring.
