I'm trying to find some bright, lightweight shirts to wear in the summer. I'd like the fabric to be either linen, seersucker, or madras. I'm not opposed to having the shirts made, though I'm going to wear them with chinos and the sleeves rolled up, so it's pretty casual.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places in NYC I could try? Looking to spend no more than $100 - $150 per shirt.

I just got sold on Proper Cloth linen shirts (conveniently ranging from $95 to $150), but they aren't "bright" (well, I guess the white one is.)

Assuming "bright" means summery colors - and if you're amenable to short sleeves - the ULTIMATE in summer comfort would have to be Tori Richards cotton lawn shirts: vastly superior to seersucker, linen, or even cotton Madras. They're typically about $100. I've become kind of a shameless shill for them, but it's for good reason.

(I actually just ordered four Tori Richards shirts about an hour ago.)

I just bought two LL Bean long sleeve seersucker shirts this season. One is in a multi check with red, blue green, yellow and the other is a navy and white check. Both are lightweight, launder well and I wear them the same way as you describe with the sleeves rolled up

Ye Olde Brooks Brothers has sport shirts in all the fabrics you're interested in, in SML sizing with 3 fits.

I want to know if anyone has a seersucker BB shirt they bought in the recent past. The website shows they are "Made in China". I know the Made in Malaysia shirts are all fused in the collar, placket etc. I want to know if the Made in China ones are fused all over, or like the remaining MiUSA shirts are unfused in placket, collar, and cuffs. Thanks.

For NYC - some good options are Brooks (44th & Madison is THE location to go to), Paul Stuart (45th & Madison), J.Press (44th - a block off Madison), multiple J.Crew locations (its Baird McNutt linen is outstanding value), Kamakura (47th and Madison). Those are some of my go-to places (albeit, Stuart is an on-sale-only purchase place for me). There are a ton more places, but those are a good start and you can hit almost all of them in a four block radius. Good luck.
