Does the pattern on a suit fabric convey any particular meaning...is chalk-stripe more of a power suit than pin-stripe? would you wear a navy chalk stripe only during certain time of the day. What kind of pattern suits your personality more?

There are almost no patterns I don't like. I love checks and plaids, but solids and stripes are all good for me.

Typically pinstripes and other patterns are bad choices for funerals or other more serious occasions.

I don't know if I completely understand your question though.

What I wanted to know is would you wear stripe suit for an interview or go with a solid? Elsewhere it says you should never wear a stripe suit for an interview is this true? Do certain kind of patterns give you a dressier look than a solid fabric ?

I would do a solid navy or charcoal suit or a pinstripe suit in those colors. The pinstripes should be muted and thin though.
