I’m sure this has been covered before, but I can’t seem to find anything...

Is it appropriate to wear suede brogues in the spring or summer? I have always felt that they were mostly for fall.

In general, yes. But for me it would also depend upon the nature of the brogues. In spring and summer I like to wear footwear that reflects the lighter weight, structure and colors typically worn during warm and hot weather. So while suede in general is by its nature more casual in appearance and well lends itself to the season, if the brogues were super heavy duty country walking shoes, perhaps something by Trickers, intended for the field, I'd find their heavy duty aesthetic at odds with other clothing for the season.

In short, if the aesthetic of the shoe works with that of the other clothing, great!

Legit question here-

I know people do actually wear suede in the summer, but I too am curious if it ever was a faux-pas to wear suede year round or if it was one of those myths I picked up from my grandfather...

My suede shoes get worn year round, particularly the sand suede design (my Alden sand suede chukkas, fitted with a plantation crepe sole) see much wear during the summer months.
May I ask, how did you get the plantation crepe soles? Are they sticky?

Several years back Alden of Carmel offered a special make-up they were submitting to Alden for a leather lined, sand suede Chukka, fitted with their (Alden's) leather tipped, plantation crepe soles. I was lucky enough to get in on that deal. In the early days of wear, as I recall, the soles were tacky on the bottom, but those days are long past. I see them as the ultimate desert boot! ;)

Thank you for that information.
