Greetings All,

I went ahead (based on reviews here) and purchased from Jeff (the Wizard of Aahs) this suit

It arrived yesterday. I have a barrel chest and have a very difficult time finding a coat that doesn't gape. Based on my barrel chest and small waist Jeff advised M. Valentino over Baroni. Good call: it fits beautifully, the cloth is beautiful and the extra chest room really helps. Very nice draping. Am very satisfied.

Mine are medium sized. Not atrociously large but if you buy one expecting high and tight you will be disappointed.
Sounds like all the OTR stuff I already have. I did see a M. Valentino I liked and want to try. It was the navy one with cognac stripes. I don't think I have a barrel chest though. I guess that means I should size down or my tailor would have to work on it. Ahhs is on the top of my list the next time I buy a suit.

to the people who have bought a suit online how detailed were you with the measurements? Did you guys just submit the size you normally wear or did you do a bunch of measurements yourselves?

I'm thinking about having a tailor of mine measure me up when I go in to get some shirts worked on. Anyone else just do this approach?

Is it identical to the photos? I have spoken to some people and not everything is identical to the photos. What about the "Made in ..." label? It was missing from my Baroni suit, which means it was illegal under federal import/export laws.

Why did you purchase a black suit? Black should be reserved for funerals.

My M. Valentino (navy, peak lapel, 2-button) is identical to the suit pictured in his ebay listing (although I contacted him off-ebay and got an AAAC discount).

He recommended a 42L for me based on my height, but it arrived much too long, so I exchanged it for a 42R, which is what I should have ordered in the first place, as it's what I wear in almost everything. I also should have known to get the 42R because its measurements were in-line with my other coats that fit well.

I agree that the armholes are medium-sized. Definitely smaller than the JAB sportcoats I have, which isn't saying much at all, but not high & tight.

It doesn't have a "Made In" tag, just "Marco Valentino Milano" and "Austrialian(!!?) Wool."

I just received mine. M Valentino pinstripe. The fabric says super 150 and it does look very delicate. The suit is half canvassed not full and the armholes and sleeves are very poorly cut. The armholes are too low and the sleeve is way to wide on top so that it forms a large fold near the front. I normally wear a 38r and i ordered a 38 r. Maybe i should have sized down but then I think the shoulders would have been too tight. I am going to take it to my tailor (Ercole in Brooklyn) and see what he says. But Jeff is great to deal with.
