commando soles on aldens
My experience is mixed. I actually found the commando sole to be fairly slippery on marble floors and even ice/slush. Also, they only looked good for less than a year. They do wear down to create that "flat, worn-out sole" look on the shoe when viewed from the side.
Comfort-wise, i find no difference between commando and leather.
when i sent my commando-soled calf bluchers back to Alden for recrafting I requested they replace them with the double-oak soles. Cost was the same and now I have a unique pair of shoes. And the Alden branded soles last for a long time--longer, in my experience, than the Alden-for-Brooks soles.
