Hello Everyone,

I was browsing ProperCloth and noticed they have a font placket type known as the Stand up French Front.

Are people acquainted with this type of placket? I've not seen it before (the placket discussions I have observed are centered around front placket, French front, and fly front).

It entails a French front with stiff fusing on both the front and back (buttonhole and button) side of the placket. I am having trouble finding any mention of this type of placket on the web. Seem to me to offer the aesthetics of the French front and the structure of a front placket.

Thoughts?

Sincerely,
maws

It's not really a separate type of front from a plain front, just one made with fusing. Just like placket fronts, plain fronts can be made with or without fusing. It's not uncommon to find a plain front with fusing, though I believe it's most common to find it on only the buttonhole side. I had such a shirt like that.

I avoid fusing in a shirt placket as I find that it makes the shirt more difficult to iron. It shrinks at a different rate that the non-fused parts.
