I have a couple St Croix Knit T-shirts & polos. I like them very much. Although I’m willing to spend some dough to get quality, $200 for a t-shirt is a bit of a stretch. Any suggestions for similar knit manufacturers that might be a LITTLE more budget conscious.

Side Question—Any idea why the St Croix knits gather twice the lint as any other garments I own?

If by similar you mean similarly expensive but a just tad cheaper, or using similarly expensive materials but again just a tad cheaper, it would seem unlikely that there should be a cheaper alternative. If you mean similarly overpriced, I am sure they exist, but of course they are overpriced.

Lacoste standard polos are all anyone needs. In their case even the branding is ok, since it aggravates so any people. Only downside being baggy (or at least the last ones I got were), they do not look good on overweight people.

I completely understand you get what you (over) pay for. I guess to put a finer point on it....what is a respectable 2nd place to St. Croix in quality whereby that step down in quality is represented in price.

I've looked at every alternative and haven't found any t-shirts or mocks of comparable quality that is less expensive. It's sorta like Bose IMO...if that's the sound you're seeking in a specific device, you have to pay the egregious price. I do prefer Lacoste for polos, though, as they fit me well and I am satisfied with the quality.

Honestly, if you've found what you like, just buy them... otherwise you're just going to put a shirt on thinking, each time, "well, this is not as nice as my St Croix, but at least it was cheaper!"

Nothing wastes money like disappointing compromise!
