When pairing with a dress shirt, what type of undershirt? In respects o the v-neck or others?

I did buy 2(x) ist and so far I find them the best. I've washed them any times and they have yet to become a 'tent'. But I'm sure there is better quality.

I haven't found anything better than 2xist. But you might also try ADAM.

I second the 2xist rec. I have had some that have lasted quite a while now (since 2003 or 2004), and I wear them frequently, as undershirts, at the gym, and around the house for lounging.

You also might want to check out American Apparel for undershirts and clothes like that. Don't be turned away by their 80s retro aesthetic, the quality is pretty good (their main claim to fame is that they strictly control their production facilities and construct all their clothes in L.A. IIRC). Surprisingly, I have found that their "summer shirt" (very-deep v-neck) makes a great undershirt for a casually work button-down, since you can open one or two shirt buttons and not reveal any undershirt. They also have a huge range of sizes.

Armani Exchange makes some nice slim-cut t-shirts that also might work as undershirts, though you will pay a bit more for them, since they are more intended for club wear.

I am quite slim (36R) and find that a size small in Hanes fits me like a glove. Plus, they are soft and don't cost too much. +1 on the American Apparel too.

Hey Image, When pairing with a dress shirt, I'd recommend going with a crewneck. Also, if you have the opportunity, try to pair white undershirts with your lighter color shirts and pair dark undershirts (like navy or black) with your darker clothes. There are several companies that offer black or navy undershirts, 2xist and Calvin Klein are two that come to mind, but there are several more. I typically wear v-neck undershirts when I wear casual button up shirts (like a Tommy Bahama).

Although I find myself preferring a fitted undershirt, out of the all the box-cut undershirts I've tried and reviewed recently, I like the 2xist undershirt the best. So +1 for 2xist.

I am planning to try out and review the Boss Orange crewneck t-shirt ($21.60) and the Emporio Armani - RED Cotton Ringer soon, so we'll see how those fit.

No offense, but I hear "To Exist" is garbage in terms of quality. I can't say I've tried them. Something about the brand image I just don't like.

I've tried quite a few high-end underwear brands in the past, but not Zimmerli, although I hear it is very nice.

Any time I think about not wearing an undershirt, I look at the yellow stains on the pits of my undershirts, and think how I'd much rather have the stains there than on my more expensive shirts.

And I further recommend 2xist. They can even commonly be found at TJMaxx, Ross, etc. Making their price perfect considering I throw them out after awhile (see yellow stains above).

How about compression fit as in Under Armor? The heat gear keeps you cool in the Summer and the cool gear keeps you warm in Winter. It's technical stuff that works and it doesn't stink like cotton at the end of a long day.

Calida of Switzerland is the best undershirt I have ever worn. They last for years, always feel great, and don't shrink, stretch out etc.

Daily, I tend to wear Hanes, however.

Living in Oz all I can say is, 'its gotta be Bonds.' Sadly now made offshore but 100 cotton singlets wear them all year round. Keep you warm in winter and dry in summer.

Neither do I, but I also see yellow stains on undershirts. I think it is more to do with the type of deodorant you use, as I only have the problem on some of my shirts.

I do like Banana Republic stretch tees though, and they are certainly not the cheapest. The thing I dislike about most cheaper undershirts is that the collar and arm rings (I don't know the technical name) are too thick. I find that nicer, more expensive shirts have thinner rings.

2xist for civvies. I love how light they are; it barely feels like I have an undershirt on.

Anyone else like/have 2xist dress socks? Years ago I worked at a company where I was able to get a discount for them, so I loaded up on basic colors (tan, grey, black). They are super comfortable, don't ever bunch up around the ankle, and haven't worn out or lost their stretchiness. I love 'em. I got a bunch for my dad and he loves them too.
