Hi,

This casual sport coat caught my eye. It's made of silk, which would be a first for me.
I'm wondering whether there's anything special I need to be aware of because of the material. While I guess it depends on the thickness, would this likely be for spring/fall?

Also, what color shirt and pants would pair well with this jacket?

Thanks!

I like the jacket and the cloth from which it's made. Silk can wear warmer than a pure tropical/summer weight cloth, and I would think should do nicely in your local for spring and fall, or even some cool summer days. How the yarn is spun and woven also greatly affects how warm it will be, and this is woven of thick yarn, but if more loosely woven (Which I can't tell.) shouldn't be too warm for your climate.

The color reads as grey, but actually has blue/lavender and buff tones in it. Many different shirt colors will look good including blue, lavender, pink, green and ecru. And of course, white. Trousers that are slam-dunks are grey or tan.

It looks great! The color blend is such that you could wear any trouser that you are brave enough for. (Personally I can't abide the thought of pink trousers but there are those . . .) A different shade of any of the shirtings Flanderian recommends will work equally well for trousers. The cut of the coat is an interesting halfway point between tweed/corduroy-countryside and blue blazer-alumni meeting so it can be dressed equally well 'up' or 'down'. Nice find.

Thank you. Would the shirt need to be a solid color with this jacket?

Here's a closer view of the jacket:

Not in my opinion. What you're seeking is an harmonious contrast. Since this coat has so much texture that it is, in fact, a pattern, you'll likely do best with a stripe or check that's simple and larger in scale for dress shirts than the pattern created by the weave. However, there's also no reason you can't wear a larger scale more vivid plaid/tartan for a sport shirt.

For example; here are couple of check shirts Brooks currently has for sale. This first one could be a disaster -

But this second should work fine -

Same should hold for stripes. And if you wanted to wear a plaid sport shirt -

Rather bright, I know, but nice spring and summer colors that I'd like with this jacket. But if you wanted something more sober, you could try this -
