Having mastered the art of sewing on a button I decided to attempt my second shoulder narrowing/depadding. The coat is a thrifted Magee Tweed. It is tagged as a 40R and had shoulders that were 19" wide. I took approximately 3/4" off of each side and removed the padding. While the results are far from perfect I am happy enough with the way it turned out to try again, perhaps next time on a coat with a finer, less forgiving fabric.

^ quick questions:

* did you hand-stitch the shoulder-sleeve seam or use a machine to do it?
It is sewn by machine. I was not trusting of myself to handsew the entire length and have it hold. I had to redo it a couple of times.

* how did you do with the lining, if any, and where did you break the sew the lining?

I took the sleeve lining loose first. I left it attached at the bottom of the sleeve hole. I took the sleevehead loose from roughly the 9 o'clock to the 3 o'clock position.

Good job! Let's see your efforts on a 1990's Swiss-era Zegna with the football player shoulder pads. :D
I would probably need to break out the skilsaw for that :icon_jokercolor:
