I thought it would be fun to start a new thread with that title. So, what do you think is missing from the Gaziano and Girling catalogue? To put it another way, "what you would like to see in there?" To be fair the lads have started a very new business and are building up slowly but there are no more plans to add new styles to the main catalogue for a couple of years or more.

I will start the ball rollling: I think a glaring omission from the catalogue is the lack of a double strap monk shoe.

I think there are other obvious omissions but I won't steal anyone else's thunder.

I wouldn't call them "shortcomings" particularly since I believe that new enterprises should not over-extend themselves. Nor do I think G&G should attempt to replicate all the offerings in other makers' catalogues. That said, an opera pump and/or patent leather formal shoe would be a reasonable future addition. Perhaps a jodhpur boot might be as well.

At the risk of diluting their profile and raising product costs, they might also develop a last with a shorter toe.

Of course the title word " shortcomings" was to attract attention. Still I am surprised there are not one or two styles in the catalogue even as a beginning to the business. A double monk is of course a staple every maker offers not a nice extra one or two offer. A butterfly loafer is a lovely thing but certainly falls into the catagory of "nice if you've covered all the bases".

Side-gussetted faux laced shoe with their signature diamond cap apron brogueing is sadly missing from their catalogue

And then there are those voices in my head calling out to try G&G bespoke service....just once

So it's not just me......

And I thought I was the only one to hear those voices. How reassuring!

At the risk of exposing myself as a sartorial tyro, what is te URL for the G&G catalog, or, if there is none, how do I subscribe for one by snail mail?

I didn't see a spectator.

Can anyone provide a current price range for their bespoke product?

I note that they will visit DC area. Good excuse for a DC area get together. Any interest?

what i find dissapointing with there basic catalog offers is there is not enough of the designs and the quirkiness that was there in TG's EG offerings, like the peaked heel counter and the heart shaped detailing on the adelaide throat.

what i like to se would be the double V tip 2 eyelet derby, perhaps the double monk too would be nice.

maybe a quarter brogue, maybe a derby simular to my bespoke one ether cap toe or wing tip.

a design like the ladbroke, a bow winged adelaide and a bow winged oxford.

also from their new bespoke samples i like to the laser designs as they are great when you see them in person

also i like to see the D'Annunzio Brogue

I certainly think that a full brogue derby is a glaring omission from any RTW catalogue - there are only full brogue oxfords. They do have one heart shaped adelaide throated shoe - that is the Hanly - though the adelaide throat is by way of stiching rather than a true adelaide.

I do want to say here and now that what they do offer in their catalogue is absolutely superb:icon_smile:
