I recently changed careers and I'm interviewing for several law firm jobs (law librarian) and I'm in desparate need of nice dress shoes. Clothes aren't a problem - I went a recent shopping spree at Brooks and J. Press.
Here is the problematic part...after a year long battle with cancer I have foot drop. I wear an AFO (leg brace) that basically holds my foot up. Finding dress shoes that fit is a problem. Finding casual shoes like sneakers, slip-ons whatever, is not. I usually go to Nordstroms because they'll split a pair of shoes for free as long as you've got a 1.5 size difference - which I have because of the size of the brace. However, not all of decent dress shoes fit comfortably.
I thought someone out there might know of another store (or chain of stores) that will split a pair for me. At this point in my career I really can't afford to go out and buy two pair. I'd say I'm looking in the $250-300 range. Therefore, most custom-made shoes will probably be out of my price range.
Thanks,
Barry
