Shirt Yoke Fit

Where, precisely, should the sleeve-edge of the yoke fall? I had always thought that it should fall at the edge of the shoulder bone. However, I posted pictures of a made-to-measure shirt where the edge of the yoke was 3/4" past this and Mr. Kabbaz commented that the yoke was close to perfect and that I shouldn't change it. Then, I took a RTW shirt with a huge yoke in for alterations and the fitter marked it about 1/2" past the shoulder bone. How should this be judged?

I recently asked a question similar to the one below, but didn't get much of a response. In searching for more input, I ran across this old thread, which would have been perfect for my purposes except that it's one of those 2005 threads that had their responses surgically removed. Stephen asked his question better than I asked mine, so I'm reviving the discussion in hopes of getting more replies.
