Shirt - tie - jacket matching question

First, I'm really liking this place. I've learned more about men's clothing in the last few weeks than in the last 30 yrs. Thank you all.

with a navy blazer. But what tie can one wear with it? My wife suggested a navy blue knit tie. Can one wear a tie that's the same color as one's jacket? Shoud this just be a shirt worn w/o a tie?

I'm still trying to put together a work wardrobe before Aug and it's making my brain hurt. Being in school, of one sort or another, for the last 25 years has really led to a dismal wardrobe. [xx(]
