I TiVoed the original Thin Man movie with William Powell, and having not seen it in ages, I was really surprised this time at how well dressed the characters were--lots of three piece, single breasted, peaked lapel suits. Powell even wore a single breasted peaked lapel topcoat. And lots of pinned collars.

Oh and Myrna Loy and Maureen O'Sullivan didn't look too shabby either.
