I enjoyed today's installment of A Suitable Wardrobe as I always do. It prompted me to look up shagreen and I found this very interesting précis.

Anyone own items made of this material? Care to share your photos?

Shagreen has a small irregularly-pebbled surface. Could be just my monitor, but I don't detect that in the link photo. Perhaps it's superfine. RL stores used to use antique shagreen covered jewelry boxes as display props. Apologies for lowering the tone, but such stuff in small accessories may sometimes be found in the jewelry case of the local TJ Maxx. Usually black stingray, sometimes with the center back ivory colored area as on the skin below centered on the accessory. Don't snicker, Bulgari has appeared at a local Maxx. (I own no shagreen.) Antiques are usually a relatively pale green.
