So far, I've visited the following:

Malouf's in Burlingame - Edward Green
Alden Shop in SF
Allen Edmonds store in SF
Wilkes Bashford in Palo Alto - JLP and I think Gravati

What other places should I visit? I'm particularly interested in shoes in the same price range as Alden or Allen Edmonds (I was thinking C&J), but feel free to post other places for the sake of completeness.

Try the dept. stores in SF. NM, Barneys, Try Wilkes in SF on sutter and ask for John or James in the shoe dept. The Barrett shoe co. is a very good shoe, well made and little known. They are made in italy. Wilkes carries 3-4 different lace ups and one or two loafers by Barrett.

Right now all the shoes that should be $400-$600 are $500-$750 due to the Euro late last year and earlier this year being so high. The good news is Barneys and NM will be having a great sale next week and shoes will be 30% off to start. At Wilkes if you buy $800 of shoes they will give you $300 back or a 40% discount.

Wow, that's a great deal! I might just have to go for the Luffields...

Thanks for the tips, I'll take a look at the SF department stores.

Edit:
Hmm, just gave the Palo Alto one a call and they said they weren't running any 40% off promotion and the $300 off $800 was for clothing only. Perhaps different promotions at different locations?
