I have always liked this "British" look and found this combination from Samuel Windsor.
Caution - do not confuse the photos with anything from upr_crust ! And please no comments about my 3 month sans haircut style! Tie is really a wide one from the 70's thus the BIG knot!
This is a vest and sport jacket from Samuel Windsor. It's out of the box with no alterations (since every tailor in my area is closed).
Photos taken early since the high temperature prediction today is 122F! We've broken several records her in the past few weeks.
CONS: It's Off-The-Rack, no working buttons, besom pockets (which I'll have closed), and no peak lapels!
PROS: I like the style, the pattern, the colors, double vents, and the way the design is lined up in all the right places. AND the jacket was only $89 and the vest only $49 !!!! So it's not bespoke but I'll have some great fun with it.
They do not have any advertising relationship with us (I'm trying to get one) so if you order just note you saw this on AskAndy
It is a decidedly handsome vest and sport coat. I particularly like the fabric pattern and the dual vents in the back. How heavy is the fabric and is it wool or a blend of some sort? In the pics you don't appear to be breaking out in a sweat, so I'm assuming the garments wear rather comfortably (cool, breathable)....yes, no?
The jacket looks quite nice, Andy! The jetted pockets are rather strange on such a sporty jacket, but they're not necessarily wrong.
The waistcoat is rather long on you in the first photo, though it doesn't look that look in the last photo. That's an extremely common problem with RTW waistcoats. I almost never see any that don't look too long.
While I usual prefer the vest to match the trouser than the jacket, that is a very nice ensemble. Additionally . . . Andy, you've lost a lot of weight! Has the heat just melted it off you?

The problem I've always had with vests is they fit standing up, but bunch when you sit down! If and when I find a tailor that is open I'll try to have him fix it all.

The fabric isn't really heavy but it is 100% wool with a Poly lining so could be warm! Pictures are fairly early in the morning, but when we finished I was anxious take it off.

My weight loss is odd. Haven't been sick so it might just be from Virus boredom and being inside. I've been watching cooking shows and trying new dishes, but most don't turn out all that well, so that might be part of the reason.
I sure understand that! I am addicted to cooking shows but living alone it's hard to adjust a recipe that feeds six down to one-and-a-dog. I'm losing weight because I can finally get moving again. Eating a low-carb diet might be helping, too.

They bunch if they're too long. When wearing trousers with a proper high rise, the waistcoat should just cover the waistband. This way it moves better with the body, and then you also get the elongating effect of the high-rise trousers.
I've never tried it, but I wonder if it's possible for a tailor to shorten a waistcoat by hemming it above the bottom button? Not sure if the bottom buttonhole would get in the way of the angled cutaway.

PS: eating less, but have added a couple of cocktails to the daily routine which brings up the total somewhere in the 16-18 range. :beers: And that should add some calories. ?? :drunken_smilie:
