Can anyone provide an opinion on this DJ?

It is on sale, showing up in my Shopping Cart as $477 right now. That is right within the same price range as the JAB Signature peak lapel DJ when it's on sale. However, to my eye this one looks more my style - the lapels look to be a bit narrower. Can anyone comment on the style or the quality as I am not familiar with RC?

The pants also seem pretty good. I'm not sure how the JAB trousers are shaped, but if I had to guess I'd say they are more full-cut. Being extremely skinny I'd prefer slim (NOT skinny) trousers to pair with my DJ.

I can't comment on the quality, but I'd imagine it's at least as good as the J.A.B offerings.

The style certainly seems to be better than many tuxedos. Peaked lapels, one button, side vents, sounds good to me. It looks quite good, all in all. I don't think you'd go wrong with it.

Actually, it is a ventless jacket.

although barathea is the traditional woolen for formal wear, its a heavy and non breathing cloth. it would be a killer at over heated formal affairs. i would vote for a tropical.

'Single Breasted Button One Peak Lapel Dinner Jacket and Trousers'

If you just stopped reading the description at this point, you'd think that there was only "one peak lapel":icon_smile_big:

The shipping charges are exceedingly high ....

Also, I would find out how they ship. Some of these firms use UPS and UPS collects a fee for brokering custom duties, which may be non-existant but you have to pay anyway. Duchamp of London is one of the highest and they only charge 18 bps. Also, after many complaints, Duchamp is not having duty collected by UPS. Some of these English firms are new to international shipping and don't realize how their shipping prices discourage US sales.

I did send them an email asking what service they use. I will certainly not be buying the dinner jacket if it is 50 pounds to ship.

Does anyone know what the JAB Signature Peak Lapel DJ is made out of? Is it not barathea?

The JAB sb pl, one button is made of a light weight wool ....

and is suitable for year round wear. Barethea is a type of weave used on tuxedos and even braces and is not a wool so there is no problem as far as temperature. I wore my JAB last summer and last Saturday for Valentine's Day. The shoulder pading is about what you would expect for a peak lapel. There is no vent in the jacket, and the facing on the jacket and pants is grosgrain.

This tuxedo is one of the best buys from JAB. It retails for $795, but can be had for $350.
Unfortunately, JAB fell down on their tie and cummerbund set. It is polyester, so don't bother with it. A silk faille tie and cummerbund can be had in a Robert Talbott from Direct Clothiers. These are usually on sale for 50% off. Silk faille is so similar to grosgrain that the tuxedo facings will match your tie and cummerbund or vest if you prefer.

I recentely begged off of a RC order that I was looking forward to. I even inquired if there was a way that they could reduce the 50 pound shipping fee. They stated that they use a signature only service and that the fee is acutally subsidized at 50. I cannot imagine what service they use, but is certainly discourages sales. Too bad.
