Ron Rider's shoe/boot company seems to be offering an increasing variety of very interesting footwear options for sale (Ya gotta love the most recent balmoral, cap-toe boot offering!). They look remarkable and I am interested. However, I am hoping to get some feedback from those herein, who have experienced his shoes and boots firsthand. What is your assessment of the comfort /support? Are you satisfied with the construction details? How are they holding up and under what conditions of use?

I have four pairs of Rider shell boots and a pair of shell shoes. I've been very pleased with their fit and comfort, and they are aging nicely. Two pairs of boots get worn about once a week while the other boots are worn less frequently. The shoes get weekly wear during the spring/summer months. I've been very pleased with Ron's footwear and service.

I have these. Love them, they're comfortable and indestructible. They do not, by any means, run narrow, but are of average width. I have narrow feet and must wear thick socks with these. Which is appropriate to the seasons I wear them anyway.

Ron's customer service is 5-star. One of the best. I can recommend his boots (from the same makers as Martegani) without reservation.

I purchased a pair of the Bombay/cognac calf chukkas. Unbelievably great looking and fit is perfect. I called Ron on the phone right before Thanksgiving and he told me that the Calf shoes/Boots would be 25% off starting the day after TG. He did not have to do that. He could have sold them to me at full price. He then sent 2 pairs for me to try in 2 different sizes. He is a perfect gentleman and a great guy. I will buy more from him soon.

Ron made up a special for me and it turned out well. It's one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

After reading your unanimous endorsements, I spoke to Ron this afternoon and, as observed by several of you, he is indeed a very knowledgeable and helpful individual (and he is a fellow forumite). A pair of his balmoral, cap-toe boots, in dark cognac shell cordovan, should soon be en-route to my front porch! Thanks again for your comments!

Eagle...good choice on the balmoral high boot by Ron Rider...had it not been for my latest G&G Canterbury balmoral boot delivery yesterday, I would have considered Ron's Cordovan Shannon-killer

Ron has some decent designs...but if you desire the use of Cordovan leather either for in stock shoes or a special order...he's the go to guy right now

The only bummer against Ron now is that for American clients who purchase English made shoes (ie from EG or G&G), the devaluation of the British pound is making his product cost the same as the above named British shoe makers

Can anyone comment, if they are a G&G or EG client and a Rider boot client as to comparing these products?

The Rider Cap-toe Balmoral boots were delivered Tuesday evening. They look magnificent and the fit is spot-on! The Italian heritage of the boot's design and construction is strikingly apparent, as they sit next to my Alden Wingtip and cap-toe boots, presenting a sleek, extended and arguably European design profile. Perhaps the greatest compliment came from the my wife, who would...without hesitation...tell you, I have way too many shoes, when she commented; "wow, they really make your feet look elegant. Those boots are keepers!" I am compelled to add, so is she!

Really a different animal. Ihave several EG and G&G shoes. Ron has concentrated on the boot area and chukkas in calf and Shell cordovan with a shell penny and shell NST blucher. G&G and EG don't use Shell to my knowledge. The GBP has come down but not quite as low as what Ron is selling his boots at. Also the lasts are a bit different. You have to see them to know.

It's a really elegant boot in pics, but looks even more so IRL. My Alden blucher high boots look somewhat dowdy by comparison. Terrific boot.
