The film referenced in the article "I'm Aright Jack" is one of the greatest satires on contemporary British society ever made.

The titlle is borrowed from a disdainful term used by the upper classes to highlight the selfishness of the workers when seeking raises in salary, particularly from struggling firms, the film twists the phrase inside out.

I was suprised to read that T - T was a bit down about his role in it, he is one of the stellar characters and his contribution may have been his finest hour.

Just saw "Too Many Crooks" and "Your Past is Showing" on Turner Classics. Wonderful films, and Terry Thomas was an absolute scream! It had to be noted as well that his suits looked impeccable on him. He was well turned out; extremely witty and great to watch. I hadn't realized what a talent he was. A great if somewhat under-appreciated comic genius.

Another favourite of mine is 'School for Scoundrels' with Ian Carmichael. 'Hard cheese old boy!'

T-T was one of those postwar meritocratic figures to whom good dressing was very important. He actually came from quite a humble background in the north London suburb of Finchley.

Very sad to think that he lost all his money and died penniless of Parkinson's disease.
