When choosing an OCBD do you guys prefer regular oxford or pinpoint oxford?

Also, when the abbreviation OCBD is used on these boards, is that abbreviation used only for regular oxford cloth buttondown shirts or pinpoint oxford buttondowns as well?

Pinpoint oxford is a type of oxford cloth, so couldn't a pinpoint oxford cloth shirt be correctly referred to as an OCBD as well? If not, then why not?
I guess I associate it with a particular type of shirt like the BB OCBD. Otherwise, I just refer to the particular fabric.

They refer to "Original Polo Button-Down Oxford Dress Shirt" and "Original Polo Button-Down Pinpoint Dress Shirt".

Pinpoint is pinpoint, a finer fabric in an oxford weave. OCBD is the older, more traditional heavy thread woven in an oxford weave. Call it what you like, but when people say OCBD these boards, they are talking the made in USA BB oxfords, LE original 19.99 oxford, LE Hyde Park, J Press oxford, Mercer Oxford, etc. Plenty of choices.

When I see or refer to OCBD or oxford cloth shirt, I'm thinking of the heavier weight fabric; and even though I realize that a pinpoint is technically an oxford cloth shirt, I don't even use the word oxford when referring to a pinpoint shirt. They just aren't even close to being the same thing in my mind.

It depends on how much I like the way it looks. Got a very nice regular Oxford in a snappy yellow and grey stripe as a gift, and liked wearing it. With a coat, I prefer the pinpoint, simply because it adds less bulk.

I prefer pinpoint for all shirts, bd collar or not. I'll buy a regular oxford cloth for a very casual bd collar shirt.

To me it refers to both.

For me, the term OCBD means oxford cloth, literally. As in, the heavier, thicker oxford cloth that does not include pinpoint, although pinpoint may technically be considered a type of oxford-woven material.

I'm more likely to buy pinpoint button-downs for my "dressier" shirts and actual oxfords for casual.

Most of my buttondowns are pinpoint. I'm warm blooded so I like the lighter weight fabric - especially in the warmer months. Although today I'm wearing a OCBD. It's still cold here in STL after digging out of 9 inches of snow yesterday.
