Recently started revamping my closet with Brooks Brothers button up shirts. Seems the dress shirts in Regent fit fit really well (16.5 32 or 33). My problem lies with their sport shirts. Seems that the sleeves are very long and thus lead to bunching and pillowing of material down around the cuffs. The only size I've tried has been the Milano and Regent in Large. Thought about trying a size Medium in Regent or Madison in order to fix the sleeve situation, only to prevent buttoning the top button at 15.5" (never button it anyways).

Any thoughts on this?

Stats:

Height: 5' 7"
Mid-Shoulder to Cuff: 30"
Waist: 34"
Chest: 42"
Neck: 6.5" (17" would fit looser but would cause shoulder seam to drop on arm)

I'm a 15.5 and 32/33 and let's face it... our arms are on the shorter side.

My Regent fit in 15.5 is 2-3 inches too long in the sleeves, so I doubt it will help you more than a half inch or so compared to the 16.5.

I guess that when manufacturers choose to only have one sleeve length for every collar size they go for the 'standard' one.
If you check other brands you'll see that the standard sleeve length for a 15.5 collar is 34-35 inches.

The nature of sport shirt sizing is that it will not provide a good fit for everyone. S, M, L, XL, 2XL. Five sizes for each fit. With dress shirt sizing in a 15.5 inch neck you can get 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36. Six sizes just for 15.5. Dress shirt sizing reaches way out on either side of the bell curve. Sport shirt sizing is only near the middle.

A BB Medium Regent is typically going to be about a 15.5-33 with a P2P of about 22. A Large Regent will be about 16.5-34.5, with a P2P of about 23. There are substantial variations in actual measurements though. So you are looking for a measurement outlier if you must have a BB sport sized shirt. They exist.

A Large Milano might be another possibility for you. You still need to find a shirt which has shorter sleeves than it should have, but your 22 P2P is intact with that size / fit combination and the L gets you about a 16.5 inch neck.

But the real question is....why bother? Why not buy the dress shirt version and get the neck-sleeve that you need? There are some differences in the features of the dress shirt sized version and the sport sized version, but fit trumps the details in my opinion.

Once you start buying shirts that fit it's hard to go back. Your point is well taken on sports shirts vs. dress shirts. Especially for BB where there is a lot of ability to get a good size - I agree just go for dress shirts from them that are on the sportier side.
