I'm in the market for a mid brown or dark brown Suede Chelsea in the <$400 price tag. Any recommendations on brands that have really comfortable fits (I would use these on travel so want them to be comfortable, yet sleek), but also great quality for years to come (with proper care).

I've looked at Allen Edmonds as thats my usual go to. They stopped making the Liverpool in the dark brown, and I'm not sure I would consider the Nomads to be sleek. I could be wrong, maybe they are sleeker than I think...so curious to hear your thoughts.

It's been surprisingly hard to find.

I found one at Herring Shoes, but it was blake stitched, I need the stiff GYW support for my feet.

More casual. Same upper hide, same last, but on a plantation crepe sole for the "walking on clouds" feeling. (Note: If it's important to you, all such soles will soil and darken with wear.)

Note on sizing, re-above: I wear a US size 11D. I generally wear a full size down in UK sizes, I.e., a 10. And this holds true for the pair of Sanders shoes I have on this last.

If you look at the sizing conversion chart, they equate a UK size 10 to a US 10.5. While any shoe and last may fit slightly larger or smaller, I've found Sanders shoes to require a full size down from the US size. If they are at all smaller than the US size shoe that is one size larger, it is very slight, if at all.
