As those of you who read my earlier posts are aware, I'm a huge fan of O'Connell's (Buffalo, NY) and recently visited the store for what ended up being the first of three purchases over the past few weeks (the second and third were over the phone as I've since returned home to FL). Today I received a box full of excellent ties from the likes of Atkinson's, Drake's, Seaward and Stearn, Lee Allison, and one of O'Connell's private make. I matched them up with three of my new sportcoats, all of which were made for O'Connell's by Empire.

Hope you like the combinations!

Jealous! Nice pics!

I have that middle sportcoat (blue check) and love it. It's on par with Southwick and I reach for it all the time. A great versatile choice!
That's great to hear! I'm very confident in anything sold by O'Connell's but I'd never owned an Empire product before. Here's hoping it works out as well for me as it has for you. By the way, I wore the jacket for the first time today:

You look better than me 😉

Nice combo that’s a solid outfit!

Seems that some people are skeptical of Empire products based on old word of mouth, reviews, etc. I haven’t been in this “trad” game for more than 10 years so my experience is limited but I have been very happy with the Empire sportcoats I have purchased from O’Connells.

I had my hands on that same sportscoat ... right at the end of their sale. I wound up putting it back - my wife and I had reservations in Chicago at an ultra luxe hotel for a long weekend and it was one or the other.

It's really a phenomenal piece, very flattering to anyone. So flexible as well - all of the pieces you acquired.

Good for you! All looks great together.

also curious ... did you get the ties from O'Connell's as well? You mentioned getting a box ... care to elaborate? Did you buy on line, ask the staff for recommendations?
I visited the store in person last month for the first time since 2007 but I made a very large initial purchase in 2004 and have bought a few things over the phone since then. I've always worked directly with John and really like him. During my visit in July I picked out a suit, 4 sportcoats, a Southwick blazer, three shirts, and two ties. The suit and sportcoats were shipped to my office in Orlando in the large box. Shortly thereafter I ordered another sportcoat, a pair of trousers, and a heap of ties including the red and blue striped Seaward and Stearn in my last photo.

Very, very cool.

That's an order and a half! Well done, the various combinations should be phenomenal. Good for you, good indeed.

The great thing about O'Connell's is that the mix and match possibilities are just endless yet you always look so well put together. And those are high quality pieces.
