My wife has decided she wished to travel to Harpers Ferry, WV, for some easy rock climbing, ice cream and about a 7 hour round trip drive. Will probably make a number of stops on the way (she's a shop-a-holiday). I did buy an outdoor griddle for her main present. Naturally flowers will also be delivered.

Today, I will take a trip to the cemetery where my parents reside.

This year we will be celebrating Mother's Day attending Church and then on to an overpriced Brunch ($42.95 a head:crazy:) commemorating this auspicious day/event! It is rumored the menu will include prime rib, baked salmon shrimp cocktails, all manner of pastry delicacies, Champagne and more. Perhaps the price is justified, but at that price, the darned diet goes out the window for this meal! LOL. ;)

Us 60 somethings will be doing some easy rock climbing, then find a place for hot dogs and fresh cut fries. Forty years of marriage and we figure we're going to have fun!

Take a large brief case and lots of plastic zip lock bags! :)

Despite the fact that my mother has been gone for thirty-four years and my wife’s mother has been gone a little over a year, Mother’s Day is still complicated. Our daughter and son in law moved to San Antonio about a year ago and are moving into their new home this weekend. So we celebrated with them last week. Our son is autistic and lives with a lovely couple and their six month old, but since we love seeing him and thought the new mother might like a bit of respite, he is here today. Keeping up with his appetite is challenging, but at his mother’s suggestion we are having lasagna for dinner. The folks he lives with eat a Mediterranean diet, and he has gone from 280 to 180, but as he says, “I love my groceries.” So one day a week he gets foods they don’t keep or cook. The good news is that for the first time in quite a while it is sunny in Austin! Oh, and we went to church in shifts because Mary had a Daughters of the King event at the late service. When she gets home we are having black bean, cheese, sour cream, and salsa burritos!

I've enjoyed several deer hunts in the Hill Country but have never gotten as far east in TX as Austin. I understand that there are very nice, high-end quail plantations in that part of the world. I really need to come on down.
