Question about white linen pocket square

Could someone tell me if a white linen pocket square, worn in the breast pocket of a suit or sportcoat, is simply a standard white linen handkerchief folded in a particular way? Some stores sell pocket squares that are smaller than traditional handkerchiefs, but they never seem to have the white linen. I am assuming that is the case, but I wanted to know if there is something I'm missing. Any links or references to good ways to fold a handkerchief to be used as a pocket square would also be appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

PS - Sorry if this has been covered before. I manually searched until I ran out of steam...

If you want white linen, these are the best (at the price) I have found:

Note, I am not referring to the pre-folded variety. They are an abomination.

What size are these? And how's the quality?
I think either 16x16 or 17x17. Good linen. I purchased 4 or 5 in one order a couple of years back. I wish they did different colors. That would be amazing.

How much is shipping? I can't find it on the site and it won't give me a total until I put in a credit card number.
I don't remember the amount but I would remember it if it had been exorbitant. The shorter, less rambling answer is "a reasonable amount."

I think if you have easy access to high-end outlet stores (i.e. Last Call, Nordstrom Rack, etc), I think that's the first place to go. I got my Talbott handrolled white linen for $5 at a Nordstrom Rack. Maybe I was lucky, but I wouldn't be surprised if I saw them at places from time to time.
