Good Day,

I recently moved to DC, for grad school, and have a great deal of interest in attending the Presidential Inaguration/Swearing in Ceremony in January. I've worked google for quite some time but am unable to identify how to purchase tickets. Of course, there are several brokers wanting to sell me tickets but I am unsure to what the officail process for tickets is.

Who conducts the initial sale of tickets?
Are tickets strickly gifted?
Is there a line I should stand in for tickets or a list to get on?

Any info would be highly appreciated.

I am not sure if one actually needs tickets to join the crowd outside of the Capitol, perhaps in these days of enhanced security one actually does. Tickets are certainly needed for the inaugural balls and ancillary celebrations.

Regarding the actual swearing-in, you might want to start by telephoning the office of your home representative in Congress. You would be amazed at how quickly and effectively a representative...well, the representative's staff fror constituent relations, actually...can act when called by a constituent.
