Good day gentlemen,

First post after years of lurking, and hopefully learning. I found a pair of Polo Ralph Lauren shoes on ebay, that I suspect were made by Crockett and Jones. I was hoping you might help me identify them, as well as giving me your opinions on their condition. I think the owner never used shoe trees, which led to them being banged up, as shown in the photos. Do you think they're salvageable? and do they worth the effort for $70?

If you think they're salvageable, what would your advice be to achieve that. Thank you so much for your help.

It’s hard to say for sure, but I do believe that RL’s English shoes have been made for them by Crockett & Jones for some time. I believe for a while the Purple Label shoes were made by Edward Green but RL’s line up has changed over the past few years.

the more important thing is serviceability. Those shoes have seen much better days! At the very least they need to be recrafted but the uppers seem to have broken down. Still wearable and it’s never too late to lavish some love on them.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply, SG. I haven't bought them yet, and probably won't. I don't really have access to an experienced cobbler, which makes recrafting a needless hassle. I'll wait a bit, and hopefully will land something better. Again, Thank you.
