Hello! First post here!

Please, could you suggest me matching tie / bow-tie colors for this dark-green suit ? I will wear it at a wedding. I've tried light blue, pink, yellow, nothing works. Brown/dark blue could work but may be too dark for the event ? I would like to wear it with light-brown shoes and a white shirt. Please help me lighten this suit up ! :)

Thanks!

Some thoughts: What you want is something that will pop against the sombre bakground of the dark checks. Purple and gold repp stripes might work and would certainly be joyous. Another alternative is royal blue and orange, again in repp stripes. These colours would also work well in paisley patterns. Irish poplin (Atkinsons, for example) would be a suitable material for the ties -- it's half merino wool and half fine silk, a nice crisp look and feel and very summery.

Another approach if you want to go with solid colours would be a grenadine in a light purple/plum or even a maroon/burgundy. Purple is a colour with ancient associations of royalty and celebrations.

If you are looking at neat patterns, there is a whole range of small patterned prints that you can pick up in these colours. Ultimately the combination of tie and suit will have to look good to you. You could look through a bunch of ties, either physically in some shop or on the screen, with the jacket in your hand, and compare.
