I really like some of the models SkoAB has been carrying but read that they have a lower instep, which isn’t going to work for my foot. Leaves, at some point, stated that he brought them in to fill the whole left when they stopped selling G&G.

They are handwelted for the purists out there. They don’t appear to have a wooden pegged waist like St. C but I could wrong.

They remind me a bit of Antonio Meccariello shoes. They were not on my radar screen until Skoak started carrying them. It appears they have a nice MTO program through Skoak including 4 different types of construction. The Tyrolese is a bit different for sure!

Purchased from Skoak(odd stock so reduced price). They are in an espresso (vietri) dark brown color. This is a color of shoe I did not own and had considered for a few years. Door last - a soft square. Nice box, spare laces. Signed on the inside. Very nicely made - fiddleback waist. I am an 11 medium US typically (10 in JL, 10 1/2 in G&G and EG). These are in a 10 and kind of generous but fit well enough. There is something very special about the sole! Now I just need to find a belt in the same color.

How would you compare the instep on these versus the other brands you mentioned? Great looking shoes!
Of the brands I mentioned the only shoes that seem a bit on the higher side would be G and G - some of that may be the narrow waist and the fact that the instep sits more on the leather than the sole - particularly the Deco last stands out in my mind. If you need a shoe with a high instep these may not be the best choice - they are fairly average to on the low side (which I assume is pretty common for RTW shoes.) I admit I am fairly tolerant of these issues and probably am not the best to comment on this.

Very cool - congrats on the purchase! The Black Friday sale was more than I could resist. I had inquired about sizing in some detail a while back when I had been tempted by these Jodhpurs, and was told they have a higher instep than the average for this brand. Heeeeere's hoping!

You shouldn't be disappointed with the quality. Fit is always a concern on a mail order first timer! Contacting the store is always a smart option. Skoak does have a size and last comparison chart which was somewhat helpful. For my foot, similar in fit to JL (same size.)

Oh I SCOURED all the sizing reports in their chart and even made a little Scafora-specific chart from that (nerd credentials fully secured) and still came away with maybe 70% confidence that these will work. They sure look a lot more sleek than my feet - lol!

You know as well as I do that looks are deceiving. If one is accustomed to AE or Churches or similar ilk - albeit decent shoes but thick waists and bulbous toes you are going to think anything with a small waist and an elongated last would never fit your feet. How many times have I read someone say - well that would never fit my feet! And since most people never actually try on a more form fitted shoe they wouldn't actually know. It's just the way more expensive shoes are constructed - much more like a bespoke fit I presume - thinner waists and the arch being supported more by the upper than the sole. I have some shoes that by the looks of it one would never imagine that one's foot is that thin across the arch, but indeed unless you have very flat feet I think you would be surprised how little of a waist a form fitted shoe requires.
