outsourcing

I have a question for all of the sartorial experts. I am not a businessman, far from it. I can understand that costs play a significant role in the decision of a company to outsource its garments (ie RLPL using St Andrews, Lorenzini, and EG for suits/coats, shirts, and shoes respectively). How much does quality factor in the equation? For instance, BB uses C&J, Sargents and Alden. But, does anyone use AE? Does that say someting about a maker, or am I reading too much into it? (just trying to further fuel the Alden/AE debate)
