I like it but don't love it. Looking for a dress watch, not a tool.
If you don't love it, why are you even considering it? I like it a lot, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

And while it's not a tool watch, I wouldn't call it a dress watch. It's a sporty watch that has a refined design. 41mm is a little too big to be dressy. Look at Omega's De Ville watches for dress watches.

For dress watches, I am a fan of thin gold watches with white faces, Roman numerals, no second hands, and black lizard straps. My wife got me one about forty-five years ago, a Chopard. I am gobsmacked how much prices for watches have gone up since then.

The Omega is a fine watch, but I agree it does not look particularly dressy.

The Omega aqua terra is often thought of as a great "Gada" watch. For go anywhere, do anything. I am a big omega fan, I own a seamaster, a speed master and a rail master but never really thought of getting an aqua terra. What do you have already watch wise and what is your hoped for budget? Luxury watches have increased in price drastically the last five years or more.

I currently own a dozen vintage watches, including 2 older Omegas, (1968 & 1973) I have two recent Datejusts that were gifts from our COO. I also have an Orfino Porsche chrono. The two Omegas I own are great dress watches.

The old Hamiltons, Longines and Elgins are lovely and elegant. But I was particularly smitten with a green faced version of the Seamaster with smaller second dial while walking Roosevelt Mall on Long Island with my daughter.

The dealer did not have one in stock but you guys nailed it....it really is not the dress watch I'm looking for.

The above picture is a preowned with full kit for well under $4,000. The older version with date at 3 are much less.

@matts..thank you regarding the suggestion to look at the De Ville line. I mistakenly assumed they were quartz. Much closer to the understated look I'm after!

So obviously you know omega well. This Tresor is the dress watch I would get if I had the means.

Probably not in my future but simple and elegant.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of superb watch brands, and many of them make excellent dress watches (or any other style of watch) for prices well below the cost of the elite brands. If you can live with a watch that is not 18k gold with an in-house movement, there's a remarkable selection of watches from which to choose. You don't need to be wealthy or extravagant to afford them!

Take a look at the first generation AT if you like the look, want something a little classier (still not quite a traditional dress watch), and aren't sold on size. The first generation comes in 36mm and 39mm - silver, blue, black, and some less traditional dials. And on a leather strap, they look great with a suit, IMO - really, with the steel bracelet, too. Lastly, they make a quartz model as a great grab and go affordable.

Can't try one on in person. Decent sized watch, 41mm.

It used to be my grail watch, back when the "teak" decking was vertical rather than horizontal and the date was at 3:00 o'clock. It's the classic gentleman's sports watch that can be worn sailing or at a boardroom meeting. If you like a clearer distinction betweeen tool and dress, than, perhaps, it's not ideal. Given that lots of people will wear a Submariner in all settings, this would be a little less toolish. Again, given the choices we have, there's no reason to settle for a watch you just like. But then, some avid collectors tend to fall in and out of love with certain watches rather quickly and sell them after owning them a short period of time. To each his own. Bon chance.

It's really a fantastic "go anywhere, do anything" watch, maybe the best in it's class. I found the 41mm model to be way too large, and my wrists aren't even small (I'm just used to small watches) but I really like the 38mm version. Would also second what the other poster said about finding a used model; you can get them in 36mm with a brushed rather than polished bracelet which I think goes better with that sort of watch anyway.

Agreed!! I think that may be the like vs love issue!
I think a pre-loved vertical teak with the 3 oclock date in grey/blue at a good price would be a nice purchase. I think they're selling for around $3,000

I have three of the 41mm Omega ATs; black dial w white indices/hands. the Ryder Cup model which is white teak dial with blue indicies/hands and one with black teak dial and white indicis/hands but with the green seconds hand. I wouldn't wear any of them with a suit, but do think they are close to GADAs. I also have a ceramic blue bezel with gold highlights Constellation. But my favorite is a 38 mm vintage Omega De Ville limited edition of 999 in White Gold that is a bit of a predecessor to the gold GMT De Villa above. It came on a black croc band with WG deployant but I have it on the Amadillow SS bracelet.

Omega De Ville Co-axial Limited for $8,809 for sale from a Trusted Seller on Chrono24 an example of it on the original strap.

Now my actual:

Fact of the matter is most anything will work today, even the huge tool (sports) watches in the Rolex line. So ultimately buy what you like. BTW, market price for one/two year old ATs is a comfortable $4000-4500.

I've had one that I've worn nearly daily for 17 years. It's great as a fairly casual watch that can dress up if needed on a leather strap. The only picture I can find (below) is on a more casual strap. Most of the time I keep it on the steel bracelet it came with.
