O'Connell's Khaki Cotton Gabardine Trousers review

But the big question is what I thought of the double forward pleats. Honestly, I'm still unsure. They are roomy but they're big. It makes my legs look like tree trunks and I don't think it looks good on me (I'm a little more top heavy compared to my legs). So overall, I like them so far but I don't think double forward pleats are for me.
I think the O’Connell’s trousers look fine on you. Of course, all that matters is what you think. Yes, the legs are full-cut, but to me that makes them look proportional to your upper body. (I’m not saying you’re fat, because you aren’t. It’s just that you have some meat on your bones. Nothing wrong with that.)

Perhaps this is a case where you might want to consider embracing the full-cut aesthetic. If, however, you simply cannot get used to it, then I guess you’ll never be satisfied with those O’Connell’s trousers.

Regarding the double-reverse pleats you posed in: Those trousers lack the proportionality of the O’Connell’s pants; the upper part of the trousers, where the reverse pleats are, are too full-cut, yet the legs are too tapered.

The trousers with the single-reverse pleats fit you OK in the hips and OK overall, but with these pants, too, the legs are slightly too narrow relative to the trousers’ hips.

You’re built for the “gentleman’s fit” as exemplified by the O’Connell’s trousers. Whether you’ll ever be ready to admit it is up to you.

If you really prefer narrower trouser legs, your life might be easier if you’d stick with flat fronts. Single-forward pleats with fairly trim legs would be the next easiest, but the flat fronts would be more readily available.

You should wear the O’Connell’s pants for a couple of months; you might get used to them.

Another question about O'Connell's pants. I'm trying to figure which plain weave wool trousers to get from them. Should I go with the tropical weight worsted wool (unknown weave number) or pay $20 extra and get the Super 120s tropical wool trousers?

You should call O’Connell’s and ask Ethan what the differences are. Also tell him what your needs/wants/hopes/dreams are with respect to your next pair of trousers. After isolating what you’re looking for, he’ll be able to advise you better than we can.
