Hello everyone,
I need a recommdation of a tailor in NYC who can make a pair of bespoke trousers. I really wish I could afford Leonard Logsdale, but alas, my wife tells me I cannot. Any recommendations?
Many thanks!

A few years ago I had some tartan sent from Scotland to be made into trews.

Due diligence in NYC with the usual suspects garnered the following:

Mr. Ned - $150.
LS - $185.
Chipp - $250.
Gilberto - $250.

Depending on fabric and detailing you may pay another couple hundred.

I also spoke with Leonard Logsdail but did not write down his quote, but recall it was higher.

Paul Winston is the man I chose and I'm very happy with my trews. Side adjusters, fishtail back, high waisted, snug fitting, just like the real MOD (Ministry of Defense) item.

I have no recommendation for a NY tailor, although I had
done a number of MTM purchases from Winston Tailors,
then Chipp, 15-25 years ago. Just a word of caution.
I had two pairs of bespoke trousers made about
10 years ago by one Heinz, the then owner of the
now-closed Downtown Tailors in San Francisco.
(Perhaps Will had heard of them). The trousers
were made from an individual pattern and came
out very well. At the time they were considered a
bargain at $400+ each and not much better made
than high-end OTR at the time. I would be very wary of
anyone in New York who is charging $250 ten
years later.

Those look like prices when supplying your own fabric (CMT). Those prices will be higher.

I've had a few pants made at Mr. Ned and have been happy with them.

Yes, those prices listed were for trousers when I supplied the fabric. Apologies if that was obtuse. With the fabric of your choice, flannel, worsted, cavalry twill, etc., and details specified by you, it will certainly cost more than the labor charges noted above. My recommendation is Paul Winston, but you should make your own calls and visits to ensure you get what you want.
