I prefer the additional belt loops in my dress trousers because they help to prevent one's belt from being stretched out of shape as we go through our days.

Ideally, pants intended for use with suspenders/braces will have zero belt loops. I doubt anyone looking at your outfit would count your belt loops. If you otherwise enjoy the pants, go ahead and wear pants with only five loops.

A belt loop in the back center usually means a one-piece waistband, which can't be easily altered. All of my trousers with a split waistband have six loops. Some of my chinos have 7 because they have a one-piece waistband.

I count my loops sometimes so I know where to tighten the pants.

There is a difference between counting the loops on your own pants and counting the loops on someone else's pants.
