Has anybody here ever heard of Northwick?

I was browsing in a store and tried on a Southwick sport coat. I noted that it wasn’t my size and the salesman said that if I liked it they could have it made up in my size. Since Southwick is gone, I asked who would make it. He said “Northwick” and implied that this company took over Southwick (I’m assuming in style and product since not the factory and name). When I got home I googled it, but didn’t find much information.

Anybody here have any information on this?

I've never heard that name mentioned here. Could be that the person was pulling your leg.

"Northwick" is a name made up by a select few southern states retailers trying to capitalize on the Southwick brand. "Northwick" is Rochester Clothing Company, aka Hickey Freeman. Whereas Hickey Freeman has shifted all MTM and OTR manufacturing to Canada, Rochester Clothing Company , supposedly still makes all their clothing in the Rochester, NY factory. One of the Rochester Clothing reps somehow procured all the old Southwick patterns and claims he can make an exact copy of the Southwick 3/2 undarted sack. My local retailer did a few trunk shows with Rochester pre-pandemic but has since stopped. I think there were fit issues and lengthy delays in getting orders filled. Also, the fabric swatches were limited and owner supplied fabrics were cost prohibitive.

BTW, O'Connell's still has a good selection of Southwick NOS sport coats and suits in stock and offered a few Rochester Clothing OTR sport coats a season or two back. I remember a blue windowpane that looked pretty nice with a natural shoulder that approximated Southwick.

I recently acquired this fine Rochester-produced example (photo from the O’Connell’s website). Looking forward to wearing it in the cooler months!
