No Break-in Period for Shoes

I've read on a couple of threads recently that shoes shouldn't require a break-in period and that they should fit perfectly right off the rack, but I'm going to take issue with this.

Maybe my feet are wierd, but, here's the problem: A 10 1/2 EEE is too short, and 11 E is too narrow and 11 EEE is too wide and an 11 1/2 E is too long. Usually an 11 E will fit fine after being broken in for a while (especially on my right foot, which is a little wider than my left). I haven't seen too many companies that offer an EE width, which might fit me better.

Maybe I should just buy used shoes that someone has already broken in.
