I like nice pocket squares. And over the last 50 years have amassed a fair collection. They don't wear out, and they really don't go out of style either. (And I've never outgrown one! :D) As such purchases are all really an extravagance for me any longer, I've purchased very few recently. And while I know lower cost alternatives exist, I must confess to having been seduced by some of the beautiful but ridiculously costly versions offered by Drakes.

Most of my PS collection has come from Paul Stuart. And they still have many nice ones, but with the prices of some being $30 or $40 north of the already extravagant cost of Drakes, a serious no-go. Well, they're having a sale, and as tends to happen with such things, most aren't to my taste but a few are, notably those quite similar to Drakes at the bottom of page 2, and also on pages 3 and 4. And at $34.75 to $39.75, quite a deal, and roughly only 35% of their original cost.

For any whom it might interest -

They do indeed offer a number of rather splendid designs that are , admittedly tempting. But alas, I fear any such purchases would sit, mostly unused, folded and stacked in the top drawer of my dresser, as do all previous such purchases. ;)

Mine go in a decorative box! :(

But think how nice they'd look with a Harris Tweed jacket! If you could contrive an opportunity to wear one. :(

I sublimate by touting things to others that I can't afford.

Well . . . . I've been salivating over Paul Stuart's fancifully patterned all silk scarves with hand knotted fringes since they were only ridiculously priced at $350 a pop. But now, they're frighteningly priced at $500 a go! While all may not agree, these colorful and flamboyant articles can do remarkable things for an ensemble. And as I shopped pocket squares, I noted they had a scarf such as I describe that I like very well, though it might not be many folks' cup-of-tea, marked back down to only $350!

Should it be of interest to anyone -

Edit: The red version is a bit more discreet.

I love Paul Stuart pocket squares. I also like Turnbull & Asser’s, although I was disappointed to discover that except for the limited edition Mr. Benn as James Bond PS, every one I’ve paid full price for has been available at 50% off via the web site.

I’ve learned my lesson. If the one style I liked in March is marked down I’m getting half a dozen to give as Christmas gifts.

So I came hone today to find my Paul Stuart package in the middle of my yard. And we just had a massive thunderstorm. So my new silk pocket square was drenched and now has brown stains all over it. Thanks Fed Ex.

Gee, I'd be mad!

I'd put in a claim, that's just ridulous.
