Ok - it's Richemont

the URL is registered with Richemont - conglomerate including Vacheron Constantin, Baume & Mercier, Jaeger, Cariter, Piaget, Dunhill, Van Cleef & Arpels, Montblanc, and Shanghai Tang

so who is going to make the goods?

I find it interesting that the timeline jumps twelve years to the e-commerce site, as though it was still the original company.

It also doesn't mention the shop in Philadelphia at John Wanamaker.

Does anyone know if the store in Chicago was the one that Dunhill moved into on Oak Street before abandoning all but the New York market?

Quite likely!

Richemont was the last owner of Sulka and is also owner of Dunhill. The London Sulka store in Old Bond Street
became a Dunhill store (although that one lasted only a year or two).

I am surprised that Richemont, who has reduced their clothing portfolio in recent years
(Hackett and 'Old England' have been sold), still hopes to find new life in the old dog Sulka.

Let's wait for the on-line collection!

Sulka

Gentlemen

My best shirts and ties to date. Are my mid 1960 Sulkas. I am surprised at this. Probably done by Dunhill. A different Sulka.
My ties were made in France and England. My old one. I think they were Charvet.
Sulka shirts were done by Paris and another in NY at one time.
I am hesitant to even try this, unles they are outsourcing
Like AK for shirts!!
Etc

Later
Nice day my friends

Chicago

My friend

I cleared out that store when I was in Chicago. It was the Dunhill store.
God was watching over me. I just happened to be their when they were selling out.
I raked in some shirts then, ties.
Beautiful scarves. I love their silk.wool scarves. Nice paisleys,
This was about 1993 roughly.
God, I would like to see where stuff is made.
Sulka was known for fine makers. I hope they do this.
Like ties. Have Charvet do them, charge 200 hundred for it.
I have seen other places, outsourcing and charging the same for crap.
Like a lot of the London shirtmakers as an example.
I cant wait till it opens. What the heck.

Andy, I disagree with you. My ties and shirts were cheap back then!

Nice day gents

Hmm... I first went to Chicago in June 1999, and Dunhill was in Water Tower Place. An obnoxious salesman berated me for touching their elaborate Linley humidor. Some time after that they moved to the shop on Oak Street - the first floor was clothes and accessories, the second floor was the humidor, watches, and a large space for an impending barber shop. They'd asked Truefitt & Hill but they didn't want to move.

My regular salesperson, Roger, is now at Ralph Lauren on Michigan Avenue. It doesn't matter whether I need anything or not, I always make a point to give him a sale while I'm there.

I will gladly defer to you. I was thinking of the very esoteric things like the silk bathrobes, etc. Also, when you factor in the longevity of the items you were talking about you are clearly correct.
