Today marks the first wearing of my new Samuelsohn sport coat in lightweight Super 130s wool, ordered through Siegel’s of Winter Park, FL. This is the “Bennet” model in 43R with center vent and fitted with a set of Oxxford buttons from my personal stash. Accompaniments are as follows:
Clothing Suit trousers Trousers Outerwear Dress shirt

Shirt: Brooks Brothers
Tie: JZ for Siegel’s
Trousers: Hart Schaffner & Marx
Socks: Marcoliani
Shoes: Alden Leisure Handsewn in Horween natural Chromexcel with corresponding belt

I like how the jacket and shoes go together, on both the casual-formal continuum, and in the way the red or brown overstripe in the plaid is picked up by the color of the shoes.

Not sure what I think about the tie color, though it seems perfectly knotted. What kind of knot did you tie there? The texture and pattern remind me of an ancient madder tie, and it is quite lovely on it's own merits.

It is a long sleeve shirt? I don't care a bit that the cuffs aren't showing, as the jacket appears somewhat casual to me, and so I don't think minutiae is very important.

JMHOs, hope others will weigh in.

Here’s a closeup. The base color of the tie goes very well with the larger windowpane.

Excellent ensemble, @WatchmanJimG!

I agree, the tie not only picks up the windowpane colour, it also has a nice contrast in pattern -- the paisley pattern is completely unlike the checks on the jacket, so your selection of this tie to wear with this jacket is admirable, IMHO, and shows a finely-honed sense of pattern and balance. It's a bit of a daring move to combine such a tie and jacket, so congratulations! The rest of the clothing (solid white shirt and dark blue slacks) is quiet, and that too is an excellent set of choices. Finally, the Alden LHS shoes is a very gentle echo of the browns in the jacket and tie. A superb ensemble, all through!

Thank you for your kind words. I know the lighting makes it appear white, but in fact the shirt is ecru. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to wear a white shirt with a different tie.

Thanks for commenting. I used a half-Windsor on the tie, which is currently my favorite knot. The shirt is long-sleeved. I know that some are sticklers for revealing the shirt cuff but I find that ensuring this often involves shortening the coat sleeves more than I’d prefer. In my experience the cuffs are sufficiently visible with natural movement, etc.

I like how you coordinated your outfit, but it's the fit of the jacket that really impresses me. It looks so good on you! My only complaint would be that the sleeves are a little too long, but that's a small thing compared to the excellent fit in the difficult places.
Thank you for your kind words. This particular Samuelsohn model (Bennet) seems well suited to my build and required only a bit of waist suppression. I realize some prefer shorter sleeves but I’m not so concerned with an obvious display of shirt cuff.

Banner model is the same pattern as the Southwick Dorset. Absolutely the best model for your body type.
